Video of the day

Thomas Vanderham's section in Seasons is the most beautiful vision of a mountain bike in motion. This is the automotive equivalent of TV's elegance. I appreciate this art.

Bowling Green Skatepark

I decided to break out my camera, realizing that I suck at riding skatepark. As you can tell I'm also not so good at shooting moving objects with horrible lighting conditions. Maybe one day I could be good at both.

Downhill in Indiana?

Its a hard feeling to grasp knowing that your driving several hours to a bike race and realizing that your not eligible to race. I see gradschool in my near future. Collegiate racing here I come again!

Nonetheless, here are some cool pictures from the Butler University Downhill race.

This kid is a natural on any bike! Weston Pope

Gee Atherton- New World Downhill Champ!

He's still looking at the next corner even when he's on the ground!!

Today marks a sad day! Sam Hill almost won the race. He was 5secs up at the split but pushed too hard and crashed nearly at the finish line. Dissapointed!!!

Check all the footage out at www.freecaster.tv

Sam hits the ski jump at 2:49 and Gee Atherton (the new World DH Champion) hits it at 2:55. Gee hits the spot Sam crashed at 3:00 while Sam isn't even back on his bike at that point . . . . wow!

These guys are so fast through the woods it is just unreal. I just watched Gee Atherton's run again and there were so many moments where it all could have been done. I wish the general public could understand what these guys are doing. The sport would be gigantic. The speed these guys process the course in front of them is just nuts...

Worlds Val Di Sole

This picture is ridiculous. That's Sam Hill on one of the fastest sections of the World Championship course. Completely sideways with a foot out= speechless.

"you do what?"

"What exactly is downhill racing?" It's a question that I get on a weekly basis. Often times words can not truly explain the essence of racing downhill. This video will speak more clearly than my words ever will. This is downhill racing!

Carters Lake Downhill Race

This was my first year racing Carter's Lake and I would have to say that it was an awesome race. The course was short but it flowed really well and a had a lot of enjoyable sections. If you live in the southeast then you definately need to check this race out.

Douglasville Backyard BMX Trip

Late Saturday evening Drew, Jeremy and myself packed into the Mazda and headed to Douglasville, GA. We were all impressed (well mostly myself) to see that 2 BMX bikes, 2 Mtn Bikes, and all of gear fit perfectly in my car. Not to mention that we had a 3rd passenger, Jeremy, in the back seat.

We arrived just before the sun went down to view the delicately groomed set of backyard trails. That night we headed over to an Italian pub and delighted ourselves to a few pitchers of Coors Light. We all agreed that the food was great, but we didn't enjoy the vasts amounts of homosexual men. From there we headed back to Steve's place and after several beers later we called it a LATE night.

The next morning...Hung over and half asleep we all decided that it was time to hit the trails before the rain storms came. The trails were really race and pump track oriented and took a lot of energy out of you. I was too hung over and was getting terribly dizzy after 5 runs and decided to pull off the track. The mayhem started when I leaned over to throw up. As I was leaning over I heard Chad and Jeremy scream, "heads up!" As I looked up I saw Drew and Steve riding full speed directly at each other. It happened so fast. Neither of them had time to flinch before both of them collided into each other. The smacking sound was horrifying. In the end, Drew and Steve both ended up with concussions and a 5hr visit to the emergency room. Drew also had to get 6 stitches above his right eye. All of this happened within the first 15 minutes of when we started riding.

About an hour later, and after Drew and Steve went to the hospital, the rest of the local Douglasville crew started arriving in the masses. All throughout the day there was nearly 25 riders. It was really sketch at times because the trails could be ridden both directions and we didn't want another collision to occur.

About 5hrs later and after a session of non stop riding we called it a day and headed back to Augusta. In the end, I have to say that the jumps were incredible. I have to give it out to Troy and Steve who put in several hours grooming and shaping the jumps. It was much appreciated.

I was playing around with the slow shutter speeds on my camera and fell in love with this picture!
